TOP INSECT FROZEN WAXWORMS ~ nutritious food source for your birds, their outer shell is soft which makes them easy to consume and digest.

Top insect wax moth larvae are extremely nutritious due to their high dry matter and fat content (see table). Because they are very soft they are very easily absorbed and digested.

In the nursery, wax moth larvae are grown on a partly natural basis, including bees honey and a partially artificial nutrient medium without growth promoters or chemicals. Breeding is very labour-intensive, which also makes it an expensive feed insect.

By boiling and shock freezing on our installation, the wax moth larvae are stripped of all bacteria and become almost sterile. The residual fraction of bacteria and fungi is well below the standards that apply to human and animal nutrition. This is followed up by frequent monitoring via analysis. Thanks to the double process, the larvae are also more digestible.
